Haunting In between (扰动之间) Open M Art Fair · Hangzhou, 19–21 June 2026 · Tianmuli · abC
Presented with (L)IGHT EAT (L)IGHT (如何狩猎光).
Open M Art Fair is an alternative art fair developed since 2024 by abC, an independent publishing platform. As its name — 打开, to open — indicates, the fair dismantles the conventional structure of partitioned booths and white walls, placing media beyond the printed page — installation, sound, moving image, material experiment — on equal footing.
Haunting In between gathers works situated in the unstable zone between image and object, between the real and its mediation. Presented alongside Maria Mavropoulou (GR), Hikaru Kajita (JP), Lucas Blalock (US), Friederike Feldmann (DE), and Rubén Montesinos (SP), among others.
(L)IGHT EAT (L)IGHT is an AI film concerning the process by which encountered light accumulates in layers until it becomes a singular way of seeing. Photographs and footage gathered directly from daily life are digested and reinterpreted by generative AI; the resulting images are fed back into the system to be interpreted once more. Within this cycle — where what has been made by eating the original becomes an original in turn — it is no longer possible to separate the recorded real from the machine's interpretation. The disturbance between the real and its mediation, the very subject of the section, arises within the production process of the work itself. Screened on a 72-inch display.
A workshop appearance as speaker is scheduled for the Shanghai edition of Open M Art Fair in October 2026, enacting the working method of this film. Participants take the records and observations gathered from their own daily lives as material, cycling footage through generative systems to derive new observations. Accumulated records become data; that data, passing once more through an individual perspective, takes form.
